Checking your tyre tread depth

In the UK, the legal minimum tread depth for a car tyre is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread and around its entire circumference.

Use a tread-depth gauge to measure several points across the central section of each tyre. Check all four tyres, and look for uneven wear while you are there. If a reading is close to the limit, arrange a professional check and consider replacing the tyre before it wears further. Do not forget to inspect the sidewalls for visible damage.dfsdfdsf
